About the course

Provided by TFP-UK and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust

9th September 2024 – July 2025

Cost: £1400 per year (a limited number of concessionary places at £700 are available for those who not in full employment as they are trainees)

This course is designed for therapists who have completed the initial 63 hours of didactic instruction in Transference-Focused Psychotherapy (TFP), as mandated by the International Society of Transference-Focused Psychotherapy for accreditation. It aims to enhance their comprehension in a second year of study. The majority of participants are likely to have begun treating patients using TFP.

The course will consist of a 90-minutes seminar held on Tuesdays from 9.15 a.m. -10.30 p.m. UK time. Each seminar will involve a trainee presenting a case. Some TFP theory or practice papers will additionally be discussed when relevant to a case.

Attendees will be encouraged to present summaries of sessions, including more detailed sections, along with a video of a session, provided they have obtained the patient’s written consent for the recording to be made and for it to be discussed with professional colleagues.

Additional optional seminars may be offered by distinguished international TFP supervisors/teachers, to which participants will be invited.

Those who attend at least 80% of the sessions will receive a certificate from the TFP-UK group and will be eligible to join the ISTFP.

3 terms per year, September, 2024 – July 2025

This course will be held weekly, with each session lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes, for a total of 34 sessions per year. Meetings will take place every Friday morning from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. UK time.
