About the course

This one day course is designed for GPs, GP trainees, nurses and allied health professionals working in primary care who regularly support patients with mental health needs. It provides a comprehensive and practical update on the assessment, management and treatment of common psychiatric conditions encountered in primary care, with a focus on building confidence and strengthening clinical decision making.

The course develops core skills in psychiatric assessment, including recognising symptoms, assessing risk and navigating referral pathways across primary and secondary care. Drawing on the latest clinical guidance and evidence based practice, it offers updates on pharmacological and psychological treatment options, with emphasis on safe prescribing, effective monitoring and collaborative working with specialist mental health services to support high quality, person centred care.
