Omar Laftah
Psychology and Counselling Student | Lived Experience Contributor

Omar Laftah is a final year Psychology and Counselling student at Staffordshire University. He brings a strong commitment to advancing the voice of lived experience in mental health research and education, contributing to ten Lived Experience Advisory Panels (LEAPs) across the UK. His involvement spans leading institutions such as the McPin Foundation, University of Oxford, University of Manchester, UCL, Imperial College London, and King’s College London, where he also serves on the Department of Psychosis Studies’ Lived Experience Advisory Board.
Omar is a member of an NIHR Steering Committee and actively contributes to shaping inclusive research practices and advisory frameworks that prioritise the perspectives of those with lived experience. His published work explores the benefits of eco walking and eco relaxation for neurodiverse individuals, reflecting his broader interest in holistic and nature-based approaches to wellbeing.
In 2025, Omar plans to begin a Master’s in the Philosophy of Nature, Information and Technology, continuing his exploration of the intersection between human experience, environment, and meaning-making. His work reflects a deep passion for connecting experiential insight with academic and clinical innovation to improve mental health understanding and practice.
