Are you a healthcare professional currently on a work break and planning to return to work or have previously taken a work break and have returned to work? We want to hear from you!

Healthcare professionals form the backbone of the healthcare system, which serves and takes care of the public, providing healthcare and rehabilitation services when people are in need. Yet, there is a lack of research investigating the return to work (RTW) needs of healthcare professionals to better facilitate their RTW transition when they are in need.

Hence, the present research is interested in exploring the RTW motivations and concerns among healthcare professionals in hopes that a better understanding of healthcare professionals RTW experiences can help improve RTW interventions/programmes to support returners. Additionally, as autonomy is one of the 3 basic psychological needs proposed by Ryan and Deci (2000) to play an important role in motivation, well-being and life satisfaction, the present research is also interested in exploring how healthcare professionals’ experienced level of autonomy can impact their RTW motivations and concerns.

Participation is completely voluntary. The research itself has two parts:

  1. An online questionnaire (approx. 10-15 minutes) You can take the survey here.
  2. An (optional) online interview (approx. 30-45 minutes) If you are interested in participating in an online interview, please contact Celina Lau (rong_chian.lau@kcl.ac.uk).

Eligibility:

Healthcare professionals who are

  1. currently taking a break and planning to return to work, or
  2. have previously taken a break from work and returned to work within the last 10 years

This break could be for any reason (e.g., health reasons, education, maternity/paternity leave, career duties and so on)

If you would like to find out more, please do not hesitate to contact Celina Lau (rong_chian.lau@kcl.ac.uk).
