Dr Steve Miller is a consultant psychiatrist, medical psychotherapist, psychoanalyst, and holds a medical research doctorate. He lead the team that was awarded initial funding from the Department of Health to create the first pilot Sun Project in 2005. He subsequently developed the clinical model combining appraisal based coping support and therapeutic community principles to initiate and lead the first Sun Project teams in SW London. He went on to develop training packages and trained and supervised the development and initiation of further Sun Projects in other NHS trusts. He is currently the clinical lead for Sun Projects in South London and Maudsley NHS trust and has lectured and published widely on Sun Projects. He has written a manual for the delivery of Sun Projects and is currently involved in introducing the clinical model into emergency departments for use with individuals who are in crisis
