SLaM Dunk: Skills training for Psychiatry trainees returning to work.
This one-day online course aims to support psychiatry trainees (core or higher) to return to clinical practice after an absence. All Psychiatry trainees that are returning to clinical practice in London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex are welcome.
The morning session will focus on clinical updates, mental health legislation and pharmacology updates, with reference to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The afternoon session will give you an opportunity to join our new innovative virtual simulation training.
Simulated patient scenarios and reflective learning discussions are facilitated by our trainers, who are current psychiatry higher trainees in SLAM. The scenarios will address assessment, management and collaborative working with service users throughout a patient journey in various settings.
After taking this course, you will have:
- Refreshed your knowledge on current approaches to psychopharmacology and mental health legislation
- Enhanced your core clinical skills for psychiatric practice
- Improved confidence in taking on a clinical role as a psychiatry trainee
- Increased understanding of approaches to self-care and wellbeing.

We are able to offer custom-made programs, whether digital or face to face, to meet the education and training needs of your organisation in the UK or internationally. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss your requirements and develop a proposal.
Let our team complete a full Training Needs Analysis for a department, directorate, or the whole hospital! We can work to complete this ourselves or work collaboratively with your own staff. Our standard outcome measures assess learner progress and produce a full report looking at wider impact of training using a range of tested assessment methodologies.
