About the symposium

This one-day symposium will introduce clinicians to the latest developments in psychiatry with strong or promising clinical evidence.

Drawing on recent exciting research findings, many of these interventions shine a new light on the causes and pathologies associated with psychiatric illnesses and are paving the way towards the future of psychiatry.

As our understanding of the causes of mental illness has developed, a growing number of pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions have shown potential as novel treatments. While some of these remain experimental, others are emerging into routine clinical practice in the UK and around the world. This course will cover new and emerging treatments in the areas of mood disorders, addictions, psychosis, and ADHD, as well as the use of MDMA in post-traumatic stress disorder.

Learners will become familiar with the sorts of treatments currently available through either clinical or research pathways and be able to recommend these to their patients where appropriate. Each session will be taught by well-known academic and clinical experts from the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Neuroscience (IoPPN) and the Maudsley Hospital who work at the frontier of mental health research.

Bespoke courses

We are able to offer custom-made programs, whether digital or face to face, to meet the education and training needs of your organisation in the UK or internationally. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss your requirements and develop a proposal.

Research

Let our team complete a full Training Needs Analysis for a department, directorate, or the whole hospital! We can work to complete this ourselves or work collaboratively with your own staff. Our standard outcome measures assess learner progress and produce a full report looking at wider impact of training using a range of tested assessment methodologies.
