About the course

This workshop presents the findings of a 12-month collaboration into work with autistic patients and their families by medical organisations including Health Education England.

The national project aimed to identify and share a range of approaches to support health, social care and public facing workforces across England to use the Core Capabilities Framework for Supporting Autistic People (2019). It was a partnership between South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) worked with Health Education England, third sector organisations, subject matter experts and experts by experience.

The project involved a mixed methods design and included a national online survey, delphi survey, focus groups and interviews. This helped us review current evidence and practice, to mapping existing initiatives against the framework, and creating a repository of information for people to develop their work further in this area.

The project aimed to find out how people use the Core Capability Framework and share a range of approaches to support all health, care and public facing workforces across England to effectively make use of it and other relevant frameworks to help support autistic people their family and carers.

Case study examples and testimonies from autistic people their family and/or carers will be explained.

Our standard outcome measures assess learner progress and produce a full report looking at wider impact of training using a range of tested assessment methodologies.
