Approved clinician refresher course
By the end of the course, participants will have:

An understanding of the requirements for maintaining Approved Clinician status

A clear understanding of the role of the Approved Clinician, and how it differs from that of a Section 12 Doctor

Knowledge of commonly used compulsory orders, including their use in specialised areas

A working knowledge of the tribunal process, including how to provide both written and verbal evidence

An understanding of the interface between the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and other relevant legislation, with up-to-date insight into relevant case law

A greater appreciation of the impact of compulsory orders on service users and carers, including the need to balance risk and liberty
