Dr Alice Mills currently works on the specialist dementia inpatient ward, Psychological Medicine and Older Adult Directorate. She completed a Medical Research Council funded PhD and also a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) King’s College London. In 2011 she was awarded a funded NHS leadership and service improvement fellowship with the King’s Fund and Manchester Business School.
She has over 15 years of experience working with older people and specialises in the behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD). She led the development of the three Mental Health Care Home Intervention Teams in the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. She was awarded funds to test the WHELD research trial intervention (Improving well-being and health for people living with dementia; Ballard et al., 2016) in routine clinical practice in care homes. She is regularly invited to speak at conferences and provide training to a range of health professionals across the UK.
