Maudsley mental health simulation development toolkit (Derbyshire)

This one-day course runs through the essential building blocks to set up and run a mental health simulation centre from theory to practice. It is available free to staff working in SBE for NHS Mental Health Trusts in London.

It provides critical insights into key aspects of Simulation Based Education (SBE) such as alignment of course design with learning objectives, technical setup, actor faculty, practical issues running simulation training including some necessary adaptation for digital delivery, centre management, evaluation and quality assurance.

SBE has a recognised potential to enhance training, support workforce development and promote recruitment and retention in psychiatry and mental health. Many mental health trusts across the country engage with this innovative training model, facing similar questions on how to run SBE for mental health.

The course offers an opportunity for participants to meet a group of like-minded professionals sharing an interest in developing innovative training in mental health, to make personal contact with an established mental health simulation faculty, and to explore how this experience can support their local educational requirements.

In line with HEE London’s interest in supporting Mental Health trusts to develop their practice and capacity around SBE, this course is open to all clinicians, educators, technicians and managers from these organisations wanting to develop or enhance their local SBE programme.

Please note - the course is not open to those not employed in SBE for NHS Mental Health Trusts in London.
