About the course

A one-day course covering all aspects of end of life care with the focus on the special needs of people with a dementia diagnosis. The day will be suitable for all front-line staff working with this client group and will cover the importance of early conversations about advanced decisions on care as well as care planning towards the end of life. The course is mapped against the end of life care core skills education and training framework as set out by Health Education England.

Learning Objectives

What you will learn from taking this course:

  • Knowledge and confidence in having end of life care discussions and be equipped with the resources supporting patient care across the dementia pathway.
  • Knowledge and confidence and awareness of financial and legal frameworks available to service users and their families to enable them to put their affairs in order.
  • Knowledge of the Gold Standards Framework to support the early identification of patients nearing the end of life.
  • The knowledge and confidence to ensure service users receive the best and most appropriate care at the end of life.
